Management Asbestos Surveys

The purpose of the Management Asbestos Survey is to locate (as far as reasonably practicable) the presence and extent of any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) in a property which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. The Management Asbestos Survey forms the foundation of the asbestos register and is the basis for the continued management of any identified ACMs.

Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys

A Refurbishment and Demolition Survey will be necessary when the building (or part of it) is to be upgraded, refurbished or demolished. The purpose of this kind of survey is to locate and describe (as far as reasonably practicable) all ACMs in the area where the refurbishment or demolition is to take place. These asbestos surveys are fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas.

Asbestos management plans

An Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) sets out how your company/organisation plans to manage the risks from asbestos containing materials identified in your properties. It clearly communicates the company policy and procedures to effectively manage and minimise asbestos related health risks on your premises.

We will prepare your AMPs to align with advice contained in the relevant HSE Guidance documents and will ensure that issues specific to your premises and property portfolio are addressed.

Asbestos registers

Following a survey, an asbestos register is produced to provide a simple means of recording the location and risk of asbestos containing materials in a property. The asbestos register is designed to be used by any staff or contractors working on the property who should be able to pick up the register and identify the risk of disturbing identified asbestos containing materials.

To help you ensure your AMP is up to date, we will undertake statutory re-inspections, which will include:

  • A thorough visual inspection of ACMs identified on the asbestos survey or previous inspection

  • All changes in risks will be recorded and added to your management plan

  • Recommendations for any additional control measures that may be required

  • Checks will be made of any asbestos warning labels used and replaced in line with your labelling protocols

We help clients understand their asbestos management responsibilities and provide them with a range of solutions which can include:

  • Consulting on the scope of work needed

  • Production of an Asbestos Management Plan

  • Advice on what asbestos services or UK accredited inspections (asbestos surveys) are required (management, refurbishment or demolition).

  • Production of asbestos registers listing all asbestos containing materials

  • Advice on further actions required (from no action to encapsulation or removal)

  • Evaluation or subcontracting of asbestos removal contractors

  • Project management of asbestos removal works
